Smith & Fong was founded by two friends back in the spring of 1989. Since then, the company has dedicated its efforts to developing new uses and applications for bamboo. With Smith & Fong’s imagination and technology, bamboo is being manufactured into flooring, paneling, architectural plywood and veneer. The base material for all products is "Plyboo" a proprietary term for laminated bamboo and a registered trademark of the Smith & Fong Company and made from the Moso species of bamboo. It is not harvested early which results in a soft end product but after six years at its full maturity and strenght and uses low- or no-VOC adhesives in its manufacturing processes. All Plyboo products are tested for emissions by an independent, third party lab located in the United States.
